January 5th, local time, after the International Atomic Energy Agency confirmed that Iran would resume 20% enriched uranium production, EU Foreign Affairs Spokesman Stano said at the regular press conference of the European Commission that Iran’s action was regrettable, and the European Union expressed strong concern about it.
Stano said that this move was a serious deviation from Iran’s commitment to the Iran nuclear agreement and would have serious consequences and negative effects on the non-proliferation system.
Stano stressed that although Iran has begun uranium enrichment activities with an abundance of 20%, the core elements of the Iran nuclear agreement, especially strict measures in verification and transparency, are still effectively implemented.
Based on the joint statement of the Ministerial Meeting of the Signatories to the Iran Nuclear Agreement on December 21, 2020, Stano reiterated that all parties will redouble their efforts to maintain the Iran Nuclear Agreement.
