February 20, Turkish President Erdoğan said that Turkey hopes to improve its relations with the United States on a “win-win” basis.

In recent years, Turkey’s relations with two NATO allies with the United States have been tense, and Erdogan’s remarks have sent a signal of reconciliation.

According to Al Jazeera on the 21st, Erdoğan said in a televised speech on the 20th, “Despite occasional differences of opinion, so far, our partnership has successfully overcome difficulties.” Erdoğan said that Turkey and the United States share more common interests than differences, and “We hope to strengthen cooperation with the new government of the United States in the long term on a win-win basis.”

Relations between Turkey and the United States have been tense in recent years.

Last December, the United States imposed sanctions on Turkey for purchasing Russian S-400 air defense systems.

According to a contract submitted to the U.S. Department of Justice, Turkey has reached a six-month contract worth $750,000 with Arnold & Porter to start the country’s reintegration plan for the U.S. F-35 fighters.
