Eight staff members of the presidential palace of Myanmar have been diagnosed with COVID-19.

A spokesman for the presidential palace of Myanmar said on the evening of December 23rd local time that eight staff members of the presidential palace of Myanmar have been diagnosed with COVID-19, and more than 80 staff members who have come into contact with them are currently being tested.

At the same time, he also confirmed that the currently diagnosed staff have no direct contact with the president, senior officials and other national leaders.

It is understood that one of the eight staff members lives in the same dormitory with three staff members of Parliament, and three parliamentary staff members in the same dormitory were diagnosed with COVID-19 on December 16.

At present, the dormitory has been closed after disinfection.

According to the Ministry of Health and Sports of Myanmar, as of the evening of December 23, there were 118,869 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Myanmar, of which 99,325 were cured and 2,507 were killed.
