Egyptian prosecutors have ordered the arrest of 23 people responsible for the derailment, including the train driver and his aides, a railway maintenance worker at the scene of the accident, the head of renovations in the area and staff at Cairo railway station, local media reported Tuesday.
On April 18, a passenger train traveling from the Egyptian capital Cairo to the northern city of Mansoura derailed, killing 23 people and injuring 139 others. According to the statement, the 23 arrested persons will face charges of negligently causing the death of a passenger, negligent maintenance and use of public property, forgery of documents, etc.
