According to local media reports, the Egyptian Cabinet issued a statement on December 31, asking all universities, schools and universities to postpone the final examination of this semester beyond the semester leave, which was originally scheduled to start on January 16 and end on February 20.

At the same time, the cabinet requires all schools to teach online the rest of the semester from Saturday (2 January). The move is in response to the second wave of COVID-19 in Egypt and to keep all faculty and students safe.

As of the evening of December 30, the cumulative number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Egypt reached 136,644, and the number of new cases on that day was 1,411.
