Demonstrations broke out in Washington to protest immigration policy

by YCPress

On May 1st, local time, large-scale demonstrations broke out in downtown Washington, D.C., to protest the U.S. government’s immigration policies.

On the same day, thousands of protesters, including illegal immigrants, took part in a demonstration that marched through downtown Washington, D.C., all the way outside the U.S. Capitol. Many protesters say U.S. President Joe Biden promised changes to immigration policy during his campaign, but so far no substantive changes have been made.

Protester: President Biden, when you ran for president of the United States, you promised to reform immigration (policies) to protect immigrant families, but nothing happened.

Protester: When I heard the neighborhood call me and say, I don’t know if I’ll be here tomorrow. I’m afraid to get married, I’m afraid to have children, because I don’t want to be separated from the children, which is unacceptable.

In recent times, immigrants in the southern U.S. border region, especially a large number of unaccompanied illegal immigrant children, resettlement conditions are extremely poor related incidents continue to be exposed, in the United States and abroad have been questioned and criticized.
