April 12 According to Yonhap News Agency, South Korean police reported on the 12th that Choi Soon-sil recently complained to the General Prosecutor’s Office that the director and medical director of the Cheongju Women’s Detention Center were suspected of sexual harassment, neglect of duty and abuse of power.
Choi Soon-chi, 65 years old, is the best friend of former South Korean President Park Geun-hye and the main perpetrator of the “crony interference in politics” case. He was sentenced to 18 years in prison for this case.
Cui Shunshi claimed that he had been sexually harassed by the medical director, and the director of the detention center acquiesced in this knowledge. The detention center said that Cui Shunshi’s relevant statements were not true. The police said that they had taken over the case from the Grand Prosecutor’s Office and requested the detention center to provide relevant materials.
Choi Soon-sil sued the prosecutor in 2019 that employees of Seoul Eastern Detention Center did not allow him to write to Park Geun-hye.
In June 2020, the Supreme Court of South Korea issued a final judgment on Choi Soon-sil’s suspected bribery and other “confidant interference in politics”. Choi Soon-sil was sentenced to 18 years in prison, fined 20 billion won (about 20 million USD) and recovered 6.3 billion won (about 6 million USD). This is the second time that the Supreme Court of South Korea has sentenced Choi Soon-sil to be involved in politics, and the trial of the case has been officially concluded.
