Police in Kerala, India, have been exposed to the use of epidemic prevention measures to make a fortune as the new crown epidemic rages, the Hindustan Times reported.
In the past three months, local fines for violations of the epidemic amounted to 1.25 billion rupees and as many as 1.75 million cases were involved, according to an anonymous police official.
But there is no shortage of excessive fines in the name of law enforcement, with an elderly woman fined 500 rupees for standing next to an ATM.
