Colombian media reported on the 21st local time that there was a cluster infection in a pension institution in the province of Santander in northern Colombia.
At least 35 elderly people have been diagnosed with COVID-19 in the past two weeks, and 8 of them have died.
At present, the agency has taken preventive isolation measures.
Preliminary investigation shows that the main reason for the collective infection is that the visiting crowds do not comply with the necessary pandemic prevention measures and bring the virus into the elderly institution.
Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020, Colombia has once announced that people are prohibited from visiting special places such as pension institutions and prisons.
However, with the gradual relaxation of the pandemic prevention ban, some areas resumed applications for visits to these places at the end of last year.
The Santander provincial government requires the people to pay attention to self-protection during the pandemic and try not to go out as necessary.
