December 8, U.S. Secretary of State Pompeo issued a statement, accusing China of formulating and implementing the Hong Kong National Security Law in accordance with the law, and announcing that the United States will impose so-called sanctions on the Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China.
The above-mentioned actions of the United States seriously violate the basic norms of international relations, seriously interfere in China’s internal affairs, and seriously damage Sino-US relations. The Chinese government and people expressed strong indignation and strongly condemned the insolent, unreasonable and crazy and vicious behavior of the United States.
Hong Kong is China’s Hong Kong. Hong Kong affairs are purely China’s internal affairs, and the United States has no qualification to interfere.
The Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China formulated the Hong Kong National Security Law in accordance with the Chinese Constitution, promoted the governance of Hong Kong and cracked down on criminals in accordance with the law, which is completely within the scope of China’s sovereignty.
For some time, under the pretext of safeguarding Hong Kong’s democratic and human rights autonomy, the United States has intervened in Hong Kong’s affairs in various ways, supported violent activities that split the country and disrupted the social order.
Now it brazenly imposes so-called sanctions on the Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China. This fully exposes the sinister intentions of the United States to interfere in China’s internal affairs, disrupt Hong Kong, and obstruct China’s stability and development.
The reverse behavior of the United States will only further arouse the strong indignation of the 1.4 billion Chinese people, including Hong Kong compatriots.
We want to tell the United States that the Chinese government is unswerving in opposing the United States’ interference in Hong Kong affairs, unswerving in safeguarding the interests of national sovereignty, security and development, and unswerving in implementing the policy of “one country, two systems”.
China strongly urges the United States to immediately rescind the wrong decision, stop interfering in China’s internal affairs, and not go further and further on the dangerous and wrong road.
In response to the bad behavior of the United States, China will resolutely and vigorously counter it and firmly safeguard its sovereign security and development interests.
