Chile approves emergency use authorization for Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine

Reuters reported on December 17 that Chile’s health regulator has approved the emergency use authorization of Pfizer/BioNTech coronavirus vaccine.

The Chilean Institute of Public Health (ISP) received Pfizer’s approval request on November 27 and convened a panel of experts to analyze the vaccine data provided by the company.

According to the report, Chile has signed a procurement agreement for 10 million doses of Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine, which can vaccinate 5 million people.
