Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot issued a home advice and encouraged residents to cancel the traditional
Thanksgiving party before the holiday.
According to the news released by the city, the notification will take effect on November 16 and will last for 30 days.
Lightfoot announced that residents should only leave their homes for basic needs such as work, school, medical care or purchasing.
It is reported that the new crown virus infection in Illinois has risen sharply. In the past week, an average of 11,400 new cases have been recorded every day.
According to data from Johns Hopkins University, the surge in cases in Illinois is 60% higher than the state a week ago
making it one of the fastest growing regions in the United States.
