Asim Bajwa, chairman of Pakistan’s China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Bureau, said at the Karachi Chamber of Commerce that the western line of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, the Islamabad-Dera Ismail Khan-Zhob Highway, will be completed in the next three years, local media reported recently. At present, the construction of the China-Pakistan economic corridor is entering the second stage of high-quality development, focusing mainly on cooperation in agriculture, industry and people’s livelihood.
It is reported that the western line of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor will pass through remote areas with higher poverty rates, fewer jobs and very weak industrial development and infrastructure, so the completion of the Western Line project will bring prosperity to these areas and will be of great significance for enhancing Pakistan’s independent productive capacity, accumulating social wealth and enhancing debt solvency.
