According to North Macedonian media on the 27th, North Macedonian Health Minister Philipche said on social media on the same day that North Macedonia found a case of British-reported COVID-19 variant infection.

The patient is a 46-year-old woman who was tested positive for COVID-19 on December 29, 2020 due to fever and difficulty breathing.

On January 4, the patient came to a private hospital in Skopje for nucleic acid testing, but the result was still positive and was immediately hospitalized.

Sequencing patients infected with isolated strains of the virus in private hospital laboratories shows that the sequence of the virus is consistent with the COVID-19 variants found in the United Kingdom.

The patient himself described that he had not been abroad recently or had contact with confirmed cases. The patient recovered on January 22 according to the North Macedonian Institute of Public Health.
