According to Reuters, a recruitment document seen by people familiar with the matter shows that Boeing is recruiting up to 160 pilots for airlines to ensure the smooth return of the 737MAX after being banned for 20 months.
One of the people familiar with the matter said that the new “global participating pilot” will be sent to various airlines to serve as a teacher or cockpit observer for 35 days, with an annual salary equivalent to $200,000, with a total potential cost of $32 million.
It is understood that Boeing has taken many measures to protect the redesigned 737MAX model from operational failures and rebuild passenger trust, and this recruitment boom is also one of them.
