January 20, President-elect Biden tweeted, “Today is a brand-new day in the United States!”
President Trump did leave a note to his successor, Biden, but it is not clear what exactly is, according to a person familiar with the matter.
In January 1989, outgoing US President Reagan left a handwritten note to his successor Bush Sr., saying, “Dear George, I will cherish our memories.”
Since then, it has become a tradition for outgoing presidents to leave “small notes” for his successors, which has been 32 years old.
Initially, the contents of these notes were kept confidential, but eventually they would be published through archival recorders, presidential memoirs, or other means.
