April 28, U.S. President Joe Biden said in a speech to a joint session of Congress that addressing the issue of U.S. immigration policy is crucial. Biden stressed that immigrants contribute to the United States and that the United States supports immigration reform.
Since taking office, Biden has moved to reverse many of the previous administration’s anti-immigrant policies, which have created a huge backlog of nearly 2.6 million visa applications.
In response, Biden called on Congress to take action to help immigrants affected by disasters such as nature gain legal status.
