Berlin, Germany plans to carry out coronavirus vaccination in refugee camps

by YCPress

According to a German media report on April 4th local time, the Berlin Land Refugee Affairs Bureau (LAF) will start the coronavirus vaccination in the refugee camps starting this month.

Jana Borkamp, deputy director of the Berlin Refugee Bureau, said in an interview on the same day that people living in a refugee camp are obviously at higher risk of infection than those living in separate apartments, because two-thirds of the residents in the camp need to share kitchens and sanitation areas.

She pointed out that even if wearing masks, the living conditions in the refugee camps will allow more social contact, which will lead to a higher risk of infection. Therefore, Bokamp believes that it is the right thing to classify people living in refugee camps in the second priority group of vaccination programs.

She also called for this that this should not only include refugees, but also the physically disabled or homeless people to be included in the group.
