January 13th local time, Bangladesh’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement saying that Pompeo said that Bangladesh was the place where Al-Qaeda launched the attack and there was still a risk of future attacks.
Such irresponsible statements made by a senior leader are regrettable and unacceptable.
The statement said that under the strong leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh has adopted a zero tolerance policy on any terrorism and violent extremism and took all possible steps to deal with the disaster.
Bangladesh actively participates in international counter-terrorism initiatives. As promised, 14 international counter-terrorism conferences have been participated.
Bangladesh has won international praise in responding to terrorism. There is no evidence of the presence of Al-Qaida in Bangladesh. Bangladesh firmly rejects unfounded lies and strongly protests U.S. Secretary of State Pompeo’s remarks to Bangladesh.
