December 7th – According to an Australian News Network (ABC) on the 6th, former Australian Defense Minister David Herry admitted the investigation into the Australian Army’s crimes in Afghanistan at the graduation ceremony of the Australian Defence Force Academy.

Herry served as the Australian Defense Minister from 2011 to 2015. At a graduation ceremony for 340 officers, he acknowledged the findings of the Brereton Report investigation and said: “After the release of the Brereton Report, the Australian army is facing a major task of protecting the country while repairing relations with the Australian people.”

According to previous reports, on November 19, Angus Campbell, the commander of the Australian Defence Force, publicly released the investigation report of the Australian forces in Afghanistan, the Brereton Report, which confirmed that Australian soldiers did “illegally kill” prisoners of war and civilians.

The investigation shows that there is reliable evidence that 25 Australian special forces soldiers illegally killed 39 Afghans in 23 incidents, most of whom were involved in the Special Air Service Regiment. Of the 25 people involved, some are still in service to date.
