According to the latest report of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), eight states in the United States have found patients infected with mutant COVID-19.
So far, at least 63 people have been infected with mutant coronavirus in the United States.
Of the known cases of variant COVID-19, California accounted for 32, Florida for 22, Colorado for 3, Connecticut for 2, and Georgia, New York, Texas and Pennsylvania each.
The CDC said that the data did not represent the actual number of mutant virus cases in the United States.
Experts suspect that there may be more cases of mutant virus infection in the United States and criticize the United States for not sequencing more genes of virus samples to monitor mutations.
