Afghan Dawn TV reported friday evening that at least 25 people have died in and around Kabul International Airport in the past 10 days. The report quoted witnesses at the scene as saying that some people who wanted to leave Afghanistan by plane had been waiting near the airport for several days and nights, and that most of the dead, with the exception of several who had fallen from a U.S. military plane that had taken off, were women or children who could not stand hunger, but thousands of people still arrive at the airport every day from various Provinces of Afghanistan.
The Afghan Taliban had previously called on people to leave the airport and return home, saying the United States was responsible for the chaos at Kabul airport.
