May 1 2021 At least 18 people have been killed in a fire at a Coronavirus Hospital in the Baruch district of Gujarat, India, in the early hours of Monday morning.
After about 1 hour of rescue, the fire was basically brought under control. New Delhi TV reported that the scene was tragic, with the bodies of some of the dead still on stretchers or in hospital beds.
The Hindustan Times reported that more than 50 other patients at the hospital were rescued by rescuers in the fire and taken to other hospitals for treatment.
Local police said 12 people died at the scene, the direct cause of death was fire and smoke. Six others were not sure whether they died at the scene or were transferred to other hospitals.
The cause of the fire is not yet known and further investigation is needed.
On April 23 this year, at least 13 patients died in a fire at a Coronavirus hospital in Maharashtra, India. A short circuit in the wire may have been the cause of the fire. (Complete)
