According to local Afghan officials, on the afternoon of the 13th local time, a fire broke out at the customs office of the largest trading port (Islam Qala border town) on the border between Herat Province and Iran in western Afghanistan.
Waheed Qatail, governor of Herat Province, said that the fire has caused dozens of tankers to catch fire and injured at least 17 people.
The fire has been gradually under control and has not spread to Iran for the time being. The fire caused power outages in 60% of Herat province, according to the Afghan energy company.
Before the fire was under control, the immediate Iranian authorities also sent fire trucks and ambulances across the border to put out the fire.
Previously, media reported that the fire was caused by the explosion of a gas tanker.
