April 9th – On theĀ 7th, local time, a 42-year-old Asian man was waiting for a bus at a subway station in New York, United States, when a strange man hit his elbow in the chest and shouted, “If you are not Bruce Lee, get out of here.” Police caught the 55-year-old suspect Kelly that day and found that he had been arrested six times.
According to the New York Daily News on the 9th, New York City police said that on the afternoon of the 7th, while an Asian man was waiting for a bus in the West Central Park subway station on 86th Street in Manhattan, the suspect Kelly suddenly elbowed the victim in the chest and shouted. Kelly was arrested that night on charges of serious harassment and malicious assault.
The police also found that Kelly had been arrested six times before, one of which was on March 10. He forcibly touched a 66-year-old Asian woman in broad daylight at about 12:15 p.m. He was charged with forced touching and other charges. The next arraignment date was scheduled for April 27.
In response to the case, New York City Sheriff Hill said that Kelly was arrested quickly after the crime, and mentioned that this was Kelly’s second arrest within 30 days. He also said that the current criminal justice system in the United States “has gone wrong, like a revolving door, grab it and let it go”.
