April 25th local time, Armenian Prime Minister Pashniyan announced his resignation as Prime Minister in a televised speech to coincide with the early holding of parliamentary elections. According to the Armenian Constitution, the Prime Minister should resign and dissolve parliament before parliamentary elections.
After the outbreak of the Conflict in Raqqa, Armenia experienced a domestic political crisis. As a way to resolve the crisis, the country decided to hold early parliamentary elections on 20 June this year.
Mr. Pashniyan had previously told the outside world that he would resign in late April.
