December 31st – On the 30th local time, California Governor Vin Newsom said in a conversation with Anthony Fauci that the mutant novel coronavirus originally discovered in the United Kingdom has now been found in California.

“We were told that the mutant COVID-19, which was discovered yesterday (29th) in Colorado, has already appeared in California, right in Southern California,” Newsom said, CNN.

Local officials later confirmed that the patient was a 30-year-old man with no travel history and began to develop symptoms related to COVID-19 on December 27.
