April 4 Recently, an old Asian couple in the United States was robbed by a group of robbers in front of their home. Fortunately, the couple’s son arrived in time and drove away the robbers with a big knife and saved their families.
According to the ABC Channel 7 website on the 3rd, the incident occurred in Oakland, California. The man who drove the robbers away said in an interview that his parents came back from a grocery store and met the robbers in front of his home at about 4:30 p.m. on March 29.
The robbers grabbed the gold necklace around his mother’s neck and put their hands into his father’s pocket to grab the phone and keys.
The man said that he was lucky to be at home at the time: “I heard my mother scream and ran out quickly. If I don’t show up, [the robbers] will do more excessive things.”
He said that he was changing clothes when he heard the disturbance, and had to run out barefoot due to time constraints. However, the man was quick to respond and picked up a big knife to prevent the robbers from breaking into the house.
U.S. media pointed out that just one day before the incident, the home of a Vietnamese couple in the area was ransacked and there was little left in their life savings.
The parties to both cases were dissatisfied with the speed and importance of the Oakland police response and hoped that the police would take concrete action.
