April 25 2021 according to the staff of the Chinese Embassy in Somalia, the Somali capital Mogadishu heard heavy fighting, casualties are unknown.

Somalia’s former president, Mohamed Mohamed, was responsible for the attack on his home, according to a message posted on social media.

On the same day, Somalia’s Minister of National Security denied claims that former President’s government forces had attacked his home. He said armed militias carried out attacks in the capital, but the security forces moved in and ended the operation.

Recently, there has been a continuing political stalemate between Somali political leaders over electoral patterns. The United Nations also says persistent differences over electoral models are not only removing hard-won progress in Somalia, but also diverting attention from pressing issues such as floods, drought, desert locusts, Coronavirus pandemic and the threat of fighting al-Shabab terrorists.
