Islamabad, December 27 Pakistan’s Information Bureau issued a statement on the 27th that a security checkpoint in
Balochistan province in the southwest of the country was attacked by militants, killing seven security forces.
The attack took place on the evening of the 26th, and the security forces deployed at the checkpoint
exchanged heavy fire with armed elements, the statement said.
After the attack, the area near the checkpoint and the possible retreat routes of the militants
were blocked, and the security forces launched a large-scale clean-up operation.
At present, no organization or individual claims to have caused the attack.
On the 26th, a bomb exploded on a football field in the Benjgur district of
Balochistan Province, killing two people and injuring eight others.
