Reuters reported on February 26 local time that the Malian military issued a statement saying that on the evening of February 25 local time, a military post and a military base in the central Malian town of Bandiagara were attacked twice, killing eight people and injuring five others.
The attackers burned the base building and stole a shipment of weapons and four vehicles.
The Malian military said that it was not sure so far about the identity of the attackers.
Malian troops and United Nations peacekeepers in the area are often attacked by armed groups associated with Al-Qaida or the Islamic State.
