April 9 – A woman in Mobile, Alabama, shot a 5-year-old girl at a friend’s house in March. According to the latest court evidence, the woman said she was trying to kill a spider.
According to the local WKRG radio station in the United States, the suspect is Tronesha Ellis, 29, who was arrested on March 2 on suspicion of a shooting. At the pre-trial hearing on April 8, Detectives from Mobile City Police testified that Ellis told investigators that she was trying to shoot a spider on one of the children. Ellis was charged with three counts of attempted murder in connection with the case.
After the pretrial hearing, Ellis’s lawyer said in an interview that the circuit court ordered Ellis to conduct a mental health assessment to determine whether she had mental health problems at the time of the shooting.
Police release revealed that on March 1, 5-year-old girl Zendaya Cook was shot in the neck by Ellis. Cook has now been discharged from the hospital. Ellis also reportedly shot Cook’s brother and father that day, but failed to hit.
