The gene editing pig “GalSafe” developed by the American medical company Rebivicor has recently been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for edible and medical products. Scientists have knocked out the protease that adds alpha-galactose (alpha-gal) to the surface of pig cells through genetic engineering, and the general population who is allergic to meat can safely eat this gene-editing pig.
