The parties concerned with the Comprehensive Agreement on the Iranian Nuclear Issue met in Vienna, the capital of Austria, on the 6th to discuss the resumption of compliance by the United States and Iran. Iranian President Rouhani said on the 7th that the restart process of the Iran nuclear agreement has opened a new chapter.

According to the Iranian state television station Press TV, Rouhani said at the Iranian cabinet meeting on the 7th that recent negotiations between Iran and the parties involved in the Iran nuclear agreement have opened a new chapter for the resumption of the agreement, and participants in the Vienna conference unanimously stressed the need to maintain the agreement.” The U.S. government has clearly admitted that former President Trump’s extreme pressure on Iran has failed after withdrawing from the Iran nuclear agreement, and they have shown that there is no choice but to negotiate.”

Rouhani said, “The United States said that if you (Iran) are ready, you can negotiate directly. If you are not prepared, we can hold 4+1 negotiations. This means that Iran has won, and we should not underestimate this.” The parties involved in the Iran nuclear agreement gathered in Vienna in different combinations, whether it is “four countries + Iran” or “four countries + the United States”. The parties to the Iran nuclear agreement have come to the conclusion that “there is no better solution than the full implementation of the Iran nuclear agreement”.

According to the New York Times, U.S. State Department spokesman Price said at a regular press conference on the 6th that although the United States did not have a direct dialogue with Iran this time, the meeting was still a constructive step. However, he pointed out that the United States rejected Iraq’s position that the United States should first lift all sanctions against Iran, but was open to direct dialogue with Iran.

The Vienna meeting on the 6th was chaired by Mora, Deputy Secretary-General of the European Union External Action Agency, attended by Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Aragshi, corresponding officials of Russia, Britain, France and Germany and Wang Qun, Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations in Vienna.
