After the U.S. House of Representatives officially passed the impeachment of US President Trump on the 13th local time, the White House Twitter account released a video recorded by Trump himself.
In the video, Trump once again condemned the violence in Congress, but did not mention the second impeachment during his term of office.
According to CNN on the 13th, in a five-minute video released on the official White House Twitter, Trump stressed his opposition to “mass riots” and said that “this is contrary to everything I believe in and everything represented by our movement”, which he can’t tolerate.
“My true supporters will not support political violence, and my true supporters will not disrespect law enforcement or our great American flag.
My true supporters don’t threaten or harass their fellow Americans. If you take any of these actions, you are not supporting our movement,” Trump said in the video, saying that those involved in last week’s congressional violence will face legal consequences.
CNN said the video was released after Trump’s second impeachment, but it is not sure when it will be recorded.
On January 13th, local time, after hours of debate and voting, the U.S. House of Representatives officially passed the impeachment of Trump by 232 votes to 197.
Trump became the first president in American history to be impeached twice in a term.
