February 22 after several postponements, the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee will finally hold a nomination confirmation hearing for President Biden’s nominee for Attorney General Merrick Garland on the 22nd local time.

The hearing is reportedly expected to last for a week.

Although Garland may face questions from some Republicans on the committee, he is expected to be confirmed by the Attorney General’s nomination soon.

Garland will be asked about sensitive questions, including how to deal with the federal financial investigation of Biden’s son Hunter Biden, said senior Republican Senator Grassley of the Judiciary Committee.

Hunter revealed that federal prosecutors are reviewing his “taxes”.

Overall, however, Garland’s hearing is not expected to be too dramatic.

Democratic Senator Durbin, chairman of the Judiciary Committee, said in a statement that Garland is “a consensus candidate and should be quickly confirmed according to his performance.”

Democrats are likely to ask Garland how he is ready to balance his views on criminal justice reform with Biden, who has promised to strengthen racial equality in the legal system.

Some civil rights organizations pointed out that Garland had shown a conservative tendency in his previous ruling as a federal judge.

In addition, the January 6 riots at the Capitol may be one of Garland’s first tests, which led to calls for new domestic terrorism laws to help the FBI track down the people who launched the attack.

According to the report, Garland is expected to continue his past practice, who was responsible for supervising the Oklahoma City bombing lawsuit initiated by white supremacists in 1995.
