According to a recent study released by the American medical journal Pediatrics, Latino children are three times more likely to be shot by the police in the United States than white children, and African-American children are six times more likely to be shot.

The study carried out statistics from 2003 to 2018. Lead researcher Goyal said that in these 16 years, a total of 140 African- and Latino children died in police law enforcement, 131 of whom were involved in gun cases.

These figures do not include children who were not killed by the police. The vast majority of the dead are men, with an average age of 16. According to the statistical results, children of African descent and Latino children are six times and three times more likely to be shot by the police, respectively.

The study also shows that in the same period, a total of 6,512 adults were shot dead by the police, of which African-American and Latino adults are also the most likely to be shot.

The study shows that there are indeed differences in U.S. police law enforcement policies among ethnic communities, Goyal said. She hopes that the research can promote a real change in this law enforcement issue.
