There are still about 10 days before South Korea’s “college entrance examination” this year, but the epidemic situation in South Korea has deteriorated. Therefore, the South Korean government announced that it urgently needed to control the epidemic before the college entrance examination, and decided to raise the epidemic prevention response level in the capital circle from the 24th.

According to a report by South Korea National News on the 23rd, South Korea has about 300 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in a single day for five consecutive days, including about 200 new cases every day in the capital circle. In response to the fierce third wave of the epidemic, the South Korean government decided to raise the epidemic prevention response level in the capital circle to level 2 from the 24th, and further strengthen epidemic prevention in public places until 24:00 on December 7.

The Seoul Municipal Government announced that it will set the special epidemic prevention period in Seoul from 24th to the end of this month, fully cooperate with the central government’s epidemic prevention work, and strictly control the city’s workplaces, nursing homes, restaurants, cafes, sports facilities, Internet cafes, cram schools, etc. If the cafes are only allowed to pack and take out, and it is difficult to wear masks. In the operation of bathing facilities, nursing homes with more elderly people are prohibited from visiting and going out.

According to a report by South Korea’s Asia Economy on the 23rd, in view of the upgrading of epidemic prevention in the capital circle, the Presidential Palace Blue House advised all staff to reduce or even cancel various external activities in recent days. If the epidemic prevention regulations violate the spread of the novel coronavirus, it will be held accountable to the end.

South Korea’s population is about 51 million, of which the population of the capital circle is as high as 26 million. South Korea’s disease control department said on the 23rd that the first wave of epidemic outbreak occurred from February to March, the second wave of epidemic occurred from August to September, and the third wave of epidemic is spreading rapidly in the capital circle.

The Korean University Study Ability Examination (i.e. South Korea’s “college entrance examination”) was originally scheduled to be held on November 19, but due to the epidemic, it was postponed for two weeks to December 3. The number of candidates this year is expected to be 480,000. South Korea’s Ministry of Education has issued detailed rules for college entrance examination epidemic prevention.

Prime Minister Ding Shijun said earlier this month that he would work hard to ensure that every candidate can take the college entrance examination.
