December 24th – According to a report by New Delhi TV on the 24th, a woman who returned to India from the United Kingdom escaped from the isolation point after receiving a positive test for the novel coronavirus and ran back to her hometown by train.
According to the report, the woman worked as a teacher in the UK and returned to India on the 21st and landed in Delhi. After that, she got a positive test and was sent to a local isolation facility.
However, she managed to escape from the quarantine point and, accompanied by her son, took the train to Andhra Pradesh home. Finally, the woman was stopped by railway police and medical staff at the destination station.
Officials said that the woman claimed that she was only advised to stay at home and was a symptomatic infected person, so she left Delhi alone. But in fact, her son made a special trip to Delhi to pick her up, and the two boarded the first-class train together.
At present, both of them have been sent to the hospital and quarantined. In addition, the woman’s sample has been sent for testing to determine whether she has been infected with a new variant of the novel coronavirus found in the UK. However, no official information has been released about other passengers who rode with her.
According to previous reports, India announced on the 21st that it would ban flights from the United Kingdom from the 23rd to 30th after the United Kingdom reported a new variant of the novel coronavirus.
