A U.S. senator died a month after contracting COVID-19

On the evening of the 18th december 2021, John Braun, the minority leader of the Washington State Senate, announced that Senator Doug Ericksen of Washington State had died on the 17th at the age of 52.

Eriksson said in an email on November 11 that he tested positive for COVID-19 soon after arriving in El Salvador. It is reported that Eriksson finally returned to the United States from El Salvador in a medical helicopter and received treatment in a hospital in Florida.

At present, Eriksson’s family has not disclosed whether the cause of his death is related to COVID-19.
