MAY 11 2021 POLICE IN TEXAS SAID MONDAY THAT POLICE HAVE FOUND A TIGER IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA AND ARE HUNTING A MAN WHO KEEPS IT.
Police say a Waller County police officer found the tiger after work and yelled at its owner to get it back, police said. No shots were fired at the scene.
Houston police officer Borza said at a news conference on the 10th, when other officers arrived, the keeper put the tiger in the car and drove away. After a brief chase, the man ran away. “My main concern now is to find this man and find the tiger, because I don’t want him to hurt the tiger. We have a lot of places to take this tiger, keep it safe, give it a home and let it live the rest of its life. ”
Police did not release the man’s name. In November 2020, the man was charged with murder in neighboring Fort Bend County and released on $250,000 bail. The man also had two monkeys in his home, and police plan to charge him with evading arrest, Borza said.
In Houston, it’s not illegal to keep a monkey weighing less than 30 pounds (about 13.5 kilograms), the report said. Tigers are not allowed in Houston unless a trainer has obtained a breeding permit.
