Liliana Carrillo confessed to killing her own child in an interview with local news station KGET, Business Insider reported Wednesday.
On April 10, Carrillo’s three children, each under the age of five, were found dead in an apartment in the San Fernando Valley. Police arrested Carrillo later in the day and said she was the “only suspect” in the murder.
Carrillo was interviewed by KGET on Friday at a pre-trial facility in Ledo, California. In the interview, she admitted to drowning her own child. “I drowned them, I was gentle, I didn’t know how to explain it,” she said. ”
In the interview, Carrillo claimed she was “in love” with three-year-old Joanna, two-year-old Terry and six-month-old Cilla. “I hugged them, I kissed them,” she said. I’ve been apologizing, I love my kids. ”
Carrillo said she believes her children’s father, Erik Denton, was involved in “human trafficking.” She sees killing her children as a way to protect them from trafficking.
“I don’t want them to be abused further, I hope that’s not the case, but I promised to protect them,” Carrillo said. ”
Carrillo’s mother found the children’s bodies, the report said. She also said Carrillo was going to drive off a cliff, but she was arrested by police before she had a chance to do so.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Carrillo suffers from paranoia and believes her child’s father was involved in the sex trade. According to her posts and court records posted on social media, Carrillo’s behavior has been volatile in recent years.
Recently, court records show that Carrillo was bewildered by the idea that Porterville, California, is home to a child sex trafficking ring, echoing the fantasies of supporters of QAnon(far-right conspiracy theories) reported by the Los Angeles Times.
The media also found that Carrillo accused Denton of involvement in “human trafficking” several times since October 2020. But Denton denies any allegations of abuse. Court documents show Denton wrote that he did not think the children were safe around Carrillo, the Associated Press reported.
On the morning of April 10, Carrillo reportedly wrote a more than 100-page “declaration” explaining why she had killed her children. “I don’t know when I was targeted, but I know that the city of Porterville is now the root of all evil,” she wrote, adding that her children had been sexually assaulted by paedophiles in the area.
“My children and I will leave this world because everything will change,” Carrillo wrote, according to the Los Angeles Times. There is no turning back here. ”
