According to Philippine media sources, on the afternoon of January 3, a fire broke out in Quezon City, the metropolitan Manila region of the capital of the Philippines, killing two people and injuring four others, including one bus driver and three passengers.
Local fire officer Robin Topacio said that after preliminary investigation, witnesses said that a male passenger had an argument with a female conductor before the fire.
During the dispute, the man poured a bottle of liquid on the conductor’s head and set it on fire. The man then spilled the liquid on himself and set himself on fire. Witnesses speculated that the liquid in the bottle was gasoline.
In addition, Topacio also said that at the time of the fire, more than 20 passengers were on board.
Immediately after receiving the alarm, the fire department sent firefighters and two fire trucks to the scene to rescue and put out the fire within an hour.
