Aiden Fucci, a 14-year-old from Florida, is accused of killing Tristan Bailey, a 13-year-old girl from St. John’s County, and a selfie taken by the suspect circulated on social media, WTLV reported Monday.
Reported that a senior law enforcement official confirmed to the media the authenticity of the photo. The photo caused outrage on social media. As the photos spread, many people left critical comments about them.
Tristan’s body was found in a local woods on Sunday. She was reported missing early Sunday and was last seen at 1.15am. The St. John County Sheriff’s Office said her body was found dressed. In an update tuesday, the office said she was found stabbed multiple times and died of stab wounds.
Detective Sergeant Rob Hardwick said there was no doubt it was a murder. The sheriff said Fuchs refused to cooperate with the investigation and did not speak to police, but that didn’t stop them from continuing their investigation and pursuing leads.
As to whether any other persons involved in the case had been prosecuted, the sheriff did not rule out that possibility, but said only Fuchs was detained. “We all know that this is a heinous crime. A 14-year-old boy stabbed a 13-year-old girl to death. So we have a lot of work to do. ”
