According to the British Daily Mail, wild elephants in Sri Lanka are forced to go to the dump to look for food because of habitat being occupied.
This open-air dump is located in the jungle of Sri Lanka’s eastern province, near the forest bordering Ampara District, where garbage from surrounding villages and cities is dumped, and about 30 wild elephants often come here for food.
After autopsy of dead elephants, local government departments found that their stomachs were full of plastic products and indigestible polyethylene.
