November 25 The Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council held a regular press conference in Beijing on the 25th. Spokesperson Zhu Fenglian responded to the list of stubborn people in “Taiwan independence” and official exchanges between Taiwan and the United States and other hot issues on both sides of the Taiwan Strait.
On the same day, reporters from different media asked about the list of stubborn people in “Taiwan independence” five times. Zhu Fenglian said that the mainland will continue to take precise crackdown measures to severely punish the stubborn elements of “Taiwan independence” and their financial owners and other major supporters in accordance with the law.
The study and formulation of the list is by no means aimed at the vast number of Taiwan compatriots. She stressed that a just trial is never absent.
According to media reports, Shi Zhengping, a retired professor at Taiwan Normal University, was reviewed by the mainland’s national security organs in accordance with the law in 2018. During the question-and-answer session, the spokesman revealed that the Ma’anshan Intermediate People’s Court of Anhui Province issued a first-instance sentence on November 24 this year, finding Shi Zhengping guilty of espionage, sentenced him to four years’ imprisonment, two years’ deprivation of political rights, and confiscation of personal property of 20,000 yuan.
In response to the recent construction of Taiwan’s “self-made submarine”, Zhu Fenglian pointed out that the Democratic Progressive Party authorities attempted to engage in a military confrontation, and the “independence” by force was doomed to failure. The more things were, the more farther away they were from self-destruction.
Taiwan’s Mainland Affairs Council recently announced that it would prohibit mainland media from renting studios to record and produce talk shows in Taiwan. In this regard, she urged the DPP authorities to stop unreasonably harassing the media and journalists stationed in Taiwan, resume the normal rotation of journalists stationed in Taiwan as soon as possible, and protect their legitimate rights and interests.
Regarding the application of Zhongtian News Channel for “replacement of license” recently rejected by the relevant departments of Taiwan, Zhu Fenglian pointed out that, as Taiwan public opinion pointed out, the Democratic Progressive Party authorities used political means to suppress dissent, and the relevant departments performed in full accordance with the script to complete the so-called “political task”.
In response to the so-called “economic prosperity partnership dialogue” held by Taiwan and the United States recently, and the visit of U.S. officials to Taiwan, the spokesman stressed that he firmly opposed any form of official exchanges between Taiwan and the United States. Advising the DPP authorities to stop holding foreign and respecting themselves and acting as the “pawn” of external anti-China forces will only bring disaster to the Taiwanese people.
The Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (RCEP) was recently signed, and Taiwan failed to accede to it. Zhu Fenglian pointed out that the one-China principle is the prerequisite for China’s Taiwan region to participate in regional economic cooperation. Responding to the concerns of all walks of life in Taiwan about economic development, she said that she welcomed Taiwan compatriots and Taiwanese enterprises to invest and start businesses in the mainland, participate in and integrate into the economic development of the mainland, and share strategic opportunities.
She also stressed that there are no policy obstacles for Taiwanese enterprises to list in the mainland and enjoy the same treatment as mainland enterprises.
All 832 poverty-stricken counties identified by the Poverty Alleviation Office of the State Council have been “cleared out” recently. Zhu Fenglian praised Taiwanese businessmen and Taiwanese enterprises for actively giving back to the society and participating in the mainland’s poverty alleviation work at the press conference. She also said in particular in Minnan dialect, “Mainlanders and Taiwanese are one family, discuss and work together.”
On the same day, the spokesman also responded to Taiwan’s advocacy of the formulation of the so-called “Agent Law” and the growth of cross-strait economic and trade cooperation against the trend.
