In response to the worsening coronavirus epidemic, the British government previously announced that a large-scale foot ban will be implemented in England from November 5 to December 2. People are required to stay at home as much as possible except for special reasons such as going to school and purchasing necessities.
In his speech to Parliament on the 23rd, Johnson said that after the end of the widespread “foot ban” measures, England will implement a “enhanced” three-level coronavirus alert system that has further strengthened the measures, of which the first level is the lowest level. Each place determines the level of alert and the corresponding prevention and control measures according to the severity of the epidemic.
It is said that different levels will correspond to stricter measures. For example, at level one, people should work from home as much as possible; if upgraded to level three, all bars and restaurants can only provide take-out services and no canteens, and hotels and indoor entertainment venues should be closed.
Johnson said the government is also negotiating to introduce special measures during Christmas to reduce the risk of the spread of COVID-19 while bringing people together as a family.
He also said that the city-wide coronavirus testing pilot project launched in Liverpool is progressing well, with more than 200,000 people being tested in the past two and a half weeks. Next, a similar large-scale community testing project will be carried out where England enters the third level of coronavirus alert.
According to the data released by the British government on the 23rd, 15,450 new confirmed cases were added in a single day, with a total of 1,57,495 confirmed cases.
