Kim Eun-soo, the youngest Korean professional chess world and known as a “genius Go girl”, was banned from using AI technology to cheat in the game recently because he could not resist the temptation of artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
According to a report by South Korea’s Daily Economic News on the 23rd, the South Korean Chess Academy held a disciplinary committee meeting on the 20th.
Kim Eun-soo, who violates organizational regulations and professional chess player ethics in the game, will be punished by a penalty of “revocation of chess player qualification for one year”, that is, Kim Eun-soo shall not participate in any Go competition for the next year.
According to Yonhap News Agency, in the top 24 online battle of South Korean chess players held on September 29 this year, Kim Eun-sung defeated South Korean senior chess player Lee E-jeong-jeong (the coach of the South Korean Go national team), shocking four people.
However, experts judged the game and found that Kim Eun-held’s chess path similar to AI recommended chess paths was as high as 92%, so they suspected that Kim Eun-held cheated using AI technology.
Kim first denied this, but soon admitted to the coaching team that “AI technology was indeed used in the game”.
The Korean Chess Academy said that considering that Kim Eun-soo is a minor and seriously reflected on the mistakes made, it will be punished at its discretion.
However, according to the newly established “Prohibit the Use of AI Technology” of the Korean Chess Academy, any chess player who illegally uses AI technology in the future will be punished by a three-year ban or permanent removal.
