Lebanese President Michel Aoun will resume the central bank audit
According to local media, Lebanese President Aoun responded to Omai’s suspension of audit of the central bank on the 21st local time, saying that the incident was a major setback for Lebanon.
Aoun said that the audit was related to national reform, anti-corruption, the implementation of the French initiative, negotiations with the International Monetary Fund, access to international assistance and other aspects, and stressed that his individual would not shrink back and would take the necessary measures to restart the audit.
The day before, the Finance Minister of the Lebanon Watch Government, Wazni, said that Omai Company notified the Ministry of Finance that it had decided to stop the audit of the Central Bank of Lebanon because it could not obtain the necessary documents.
