AFC announces Egypt to host 2020 Africa Super Cup in place of Qatar
The Confederation of African Football announced in a statement on the 20th that after consultation with the Qatar Football Association, Qatar will no longer host the 2020 African Super Cup and decide to hand over the event to Egypt.
The 2020 Africa Super Cup was originally scheduled to be held in Qatar from 14 to 16 August this year, but was postponed due to the coronavirus epidemic. Subsequently, the African Football Confederation, in consultation with the Qatar Football Association, decided to hand over the event to Egypt. However, the specific date of the game has not yet been determined.
It is understood that this decision is mainly based on consideration of the schedule of the event.
“AF will work closely with the Egyptian Football Association to make the 2020 Africa Super Cup a success,” the AFC said in a statement.
The African Super Cup is an important football event in Africa. It is held once a year, with the champions of the African Champions League against the African Union Cup champions.
